8th Grade Continuation
When: Wednesday, May 25; event runs 6 - 7:30 pm
Our PTA is restarting the evening celebration just for students on the day of the 8th grade Continuation ceremony. The celebration gives our 8th grade students a chance to dress up, dance, eat, take photos, and catch up with friends. Adult volunteers interested in helping before, during and after the event may confirm the role(s) they would like to help with on the SignUpGenius linked below. Please contact Maria Beken at mlealbeken@gmail.com with any questions regarding the event.
Pringles Cans for Coding
When: ongoing throughout the year
Mr. Wooldridge is collecting empty Pringles cans of any size to use for a coding project with his Computer Applications classes, which is offered every trimester. If you have empty cans you would like to donate, they may be sent to the school office or with your student to his classroom.
Bottled Water
When: ongoing throughout the year
The school has a limited amount of bottled water available for students that do not bring a refillable water bottle with them to use at school. Families and community members that would like to donate bottled water to the school may call the office at 303-982-3056 to make arrangements.
West Jeff Middle Garden
When: ongoing throughout the year
Are you interested in helping plan, construct, or fundraise for a school garden? We plan to start construction of a school garden on our campus. To help this project get underway, we need help with reaching out for donations of funds and materials (tools, soil, wood for raised beds, seed, plants, etc.), holding fundraisers, grant writing and community outreach.
The garden will serve as a place for teachers to incorporate outdoor lessons into their classes and provide a beautiful space for after school clubs to use. Our students will have opportunities to learn about growing food and crops in a high-altitude environment and the chance to work through the unique challenges of food and plant production in the arid mountains.
Denver Urban Gardens has committed to support us as an affiliate garden, which will provide us with expert help in planning and construction, as well as curriculum support for our faculty and students. If you are interested in any aspect of helping get our garden off the ground this spring, please contact Kate Broyles at kkatem@hotmail.com.

Tree Cookies/Tree Discs
When: anytime during the year
Each year, our sixth grade team needs about 250 round pieces of wood that are about 4 inches in diameter and 1/2 inch thick. They are used as name tags during the week of Outdoor Lab, so they will need a small hole drilled near the edge. Please see the sample image for how they are used; please contact Mrs. Buffington if you can help or have additional questions.
