School News

We have transitioned into remote learning through winter break. Please see the news item WJMS Remote Learning for answers to specific questions you may have and our Remote Learning Resources website for video tutorials. For the week of November 16, meal pickup at our school will be at the front entry from 3 - 4 pm on Tuesday, November 17 and Thursday, November 19.

Families are invited to support our school library by shopping our Virtual Book Fair between November 16 and 29. Orders will ship to your home address with free shipping for orders over $25.

There will be no school for Thanksgiving Break the week of November 23. Classes resume on Monday, November 30.

Beginning November 30, grab and go meal pickup will be at West Jefferson Elementary School, 26501 Barkley Road, each Tuesday and Thursday between 3:30 and 4:30 pm. Additional information on meal pickup can be found in the Food Service section of our Remote Learning Plan.

The hybrid student retake and remote student picture days scheduled in December have been postponed. We are working to schedule new dates in January. We know that this is a big disappointment and inconvenience for everyone, and appreciate your flexibility and patience with the changes and challenges we are facing this school year.

Attendance Procedures

To try help minimize attendance calls from the school, please call the attendance line at 303-982-3051 to excuse when:

  • your student will be absent;
  • your student needs to log out of class early;
  • your student will be late logging into their first class of the day; or
  • your student is having computer or internet issues during class.

For additional guidance or situations that fall outside those described above, please call the main office at 303-982-3056.

If your student is logged in to their Google Classroom but not responding to the teacher verbally or in the chat, your student will be marked absent. In order to count as attending, students must be engaged with the teacher and other students in the Google Classroom during their class time.
