Adaptive Technology

  • Co:Writer (installed on some school-owned computers; personal license $4.99/month) offers word prediction in the Chrome browser, on iOS devices (iPads, iPhones, and iPods), and on the computer desktop. It offers speech recognition in its Chrome extension, so students can dictate then go back and edit with Co:Writer.

  • EquatIO (all students have access under the district license; personal license $100/year) is a Chrome extension that allows users to enter equations, formulas, and graphs into G Suite documents (Docs, Sheets, Slides) using a keyboard, a digital handwriting tool, or speech dictation.

  • Line Height Adjuster (free) is a Chrome extension that allows users to adjust the spacing between lines on web pages for increased readability.

  • ModMath (free; Pro version $4.99) for iPad allows users to do math on a grid and save/share their work without using a pencil.

  • OpenDyslexic (free) is a Chrome extension that can change any web-based text into the OpenDyslexic font, which assists people with dyslexia in decoding and reading with fluency. It works on all documents and web pages if the extension is running.

  • Read&Write (all students have access under the district license; personal license $145/year) is a Chrome extension with multiple literacy tools including text-to-speech reading, word prediction, and other tools to enhance reading comprehension and understanding.

  • Smart TOC (free) is a Chrome extension that creates a floating table of contents for web pages that use HTML heading tags properly. 

  • SnapType (free; Pro version $4.99) for iPad allows users to take a photo or import a file of a worksheet and write anywhere on the page, save and share their finished work.

  • Voice typing is part of Google Docs and Slides when you are using a Chrome browser.

  • Wizkids CAS add-on (free) lets users add fractions, equations, and graphs to Google Docs.
